Heading out for the Documentary in Bokaro
(Jharkhand State, East India)

"If there's something you'd like to ttrrryy....
ask me I won't say no how could I"

We were stopped by security ... and Vikrant is stocking up on some protection
(he says that going to the East side is one of the most dangerous parts of India)

We landed in the small city of Bokaro (Steel City)
Staying with Vikrant's Parents

so far it feels a lot like my great grandma's little town in texas...
there's not much to do but eat and watch the bugs drowned in your water glass
i started knitting on the porch and turned on country music (for about 15 seconds)
it was one of the funniest moments in my life- honky tonk in India :-) YeeHah!

We had a few moments to kill before going to see Vikrant's relatives...so we went
searching for an internet cafe... *you know you are out in the country, when...*

This colorful blur is the plastic flashing dash icon... now A-R-T
its pretty...you like it....

Vikrant's Grandmother's House

Watching a chicken (their DINNER) get killed Jhatka Style

Rama Temple ~ and the happy Pandit man

I blame religion for the rise of diabetes in India...
every time you get blessed, you have to eat a sugary treat
I got 4 different sweets in this one temple....you do the math man!

I was initiated into the clan by Vikrant's Family with this bindi :-)
People keep telling me that I fit in well with Indian culture... I feel like I
stick out SOO MUCH... it is a never ending battle of maintaining awareness :-)
(the second picture vikrant took as i was faning myself cause the electricity went out (again)
it was SOOO HOT.... sweating and dirty after our shoot... that is why im hiding behind the fan

Vikrant's nephew shook my hand six times as I was leaving
wishing me a pleasant journey and gave me this flower :-)
Vikrant had me take it out at the train station- he said that only
I put it in my ear... and everyone in the family started laughing...
he told me that only insane people wear this flower like this
(its typically used in religious ceremonies)
