2 MONTH ROAD TRIP ACROSS THE US

We walked down 5th Ave, saw the the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, Wall Street,
the Twin Tower 9-11 reconstruction site and we went to two Broadway shows, “Wicked” and “Stomp”
…we’ve been busy….





The Smithsonian Museums are awesome…there are so man that it would take a year to go through all of them…
we chose the Natural History ( Nicky saw lions tigers and dinosaurs…oh my…, and gem stones including
the Hope Diamond….oh yeah) , The Air and Space (Wright Brothers exhibit, and a simulated ride in an
F-18 (head over heals loop, barrel roles and spins) ….the original Museum called the Castle…..
and we also visited the Holocaust Museum….very intense….



At night we took the Monuments by moonlight tour….we saw all of the DC monuments all lit
up including, the White House, the capital bldg, the Lincoln Memorial, the FDR memorials,
the Korean War Memorial, and more….. 3 days and a whirlwind tour of DC…








We went river rafting on the New River in West Virginia (pictures to come) and then headed for
Myrtle Beach South Carolina. Beached it for two days, went miniature golfing and ate lots of ice cream…



We went to Charleston for a day …it rained but was still very hot and humid - whew….
we saw Fort Sumter where the civil war began and walked around the historic district
looking at all the pretty old buildings ….this moring we went to an incredible nature reserve
(swamp) that was developed on one of the old plantations….we saw cranes, and alligators and a 7
foot snake that I almost stepped on… didn’t need coffee after that…I was awake!





So we left Hilton Head and drove an hour south to Savannah Georgia.
We had lunch at Pirates Restaurant where Robert Louis Stevenson wrote Treasure
Island and where the old time skippers used to drug their crews and throw them on the ships
so that they would wake up at sea with a hang over 2 days later. …..We toured through the old
Victorian homes and then went for a swim at the Westin and Nick and I had
“the Big Game “ of Fooz Ball in the middle of a rainy down pour.







Well we hit the very southern point of South Carolina today, Hilton Head….very nice….
resort island with beautiful beaches …we went for a great bike ride on the beach and played in the pool all day….




We drove from New Orleans to Dallas to see Aunt Shirley, Uncle Leo, Shirley, Tina,
Rhonda, Jerry and Elaine…. We stayed at Aunt Shirley’s new home and visited Uncle Leo's
home and offices in the world trade center. Aunt Shirley, Elaine and Nick had a wild
game of Uno….Brighton, Elaine’s little dog, entertained us with his one trick….he can pray!







From Dallas we went to Carlsbad Caverns, New Mexico….Wow…big cave
…stalagmites and stalactites bats and thunderstorms …..



We drove from Savannah to Columbus GA to see Jason, Crystal, dogs,
Josh Myrick, Crystals brother,
wife and children and her mom and step dad. We followed Jason to his house and he got caught in
the rain on his new motorcycle. We visited at Jason’s house and then went to Japanese Food with
everyone, after we went to his brother in laws house …it was a very nice visit….




Next we drove thru Alabama and Mississippi to New Orleans, Louisiana….
We stayed at the Ritz and ate and Dickiee Bennan’s for my Birthday. Pretty Swanky….
Leslie and I had a fun night on Bourbon street listening to music and playing with our beads…
