"DANCING FOR
THEMSELVES...MAHBHUM STYLE..." (THE SECOND PART OF A FOUR PART SERIES) Chhau is a specialized mask dance drama. The dance is celebrated annually in honour of lord Shiva, popularly known as 'SHIVA GAJAN'. The meaning of SHIVA GAJAN being the worship of lord Shiva by the village folks. The film deals with what "Purulia Chhau dance" is all about, the influence of religion and mythology on the dance and what kind of life the Chhau dancers lead.
